Halal Matters

Gardenia KL’s production plants and products have received Halal certification from Jabatan Kemajuan Islam Malaysia (“JAKIM”), a federal government agency that administers Halal certification in Malaysia, and are included in Jabatan Agama Islam Selangor’s (JAIS) whitelist, a list which recognises companies that are committed to the requirements of Halal certification in Malaysia. Regular factory inspections are conducted by JAIS and other authorities to ensure the overall operations comply with strict guidelines. In 1994, Gardenia KL formed a dedicated Internal Halal Committee to scrutinize every aspect of Halal regulations to ensure that all requirements are stringently adhered to. As an added measure, Gardenia KL appointed an Independent Syariah Advisor as our point of reference on all Syariah-related matters.

Halal Assurance System Procedure

Raw Materials​

  • From Halal guaranteed sources.
  • All ingredients must be approved by the Internal Halal Committee.

Purchasing​

  • Ensures that the supplier complies with the standards that have been set.
  • Detailed audits are performed at the supplier’s factory.

Gardenia’s Factories​

  • All factories operate in accordance with the standards of the Malaysian Halal Certification Procedure Manual and ISO 22000.
  • Recognised as a company listed in the “White List” category by JAIS.

Storage / Distribution

  • Centralised product distribution handled by Gardenia’s employees at the Bukit Kemuning Factory.

Transportation​

  • Using vehicle, own and managed by Gardenia.
  • Avoid the occurrence of any cross-contamination towards products.

Sales & Marketing​

  • Marketing 100% Halal products.
  • Distribution to stores by Gardenia’s salesmen & displayed on special bread racks.

Consumers

  • Have the opportunity to enjoy Halal, high quality, and safe-to-eat products.

To control and preserve our halal status, as well as the welfare of our staff, we strictly do not allow any outside food to be brought into the company premises. Instead, Gardenia has its own Cooks who provide a variety of free daily meals to its staff, 24 hours a day.
